Carte Noire nommée Désir
The title is a reference to the ads of a coffee brand with the slogan «Carte Noire - a coffee named desire». Based on this, Rébecca Chaillon and her ensemble now invite you to a brilliant evening of theatre: Together, they explore the hypersexualisation and exoticisation of Black bodies and identities as well as their visibility and invisibility. In doing so, they expose the ongoing racist stereotyping and attributions. In addition to her very visual staging style, Chaillon chooses the method of transgression and sarcasm in order to put our collective memory to the test in all clarity.
Foods with a colonial past, such as coffee and cocoa, are used as stage material in all imaginable states of aggregation. The result is a theatrical experience that generously involves all the senses and oscillates between uncompromising performance, Afrofuturist poetry, burlesque quizzes and a great deal of liberating force.
Rébecca Chaillon studied theatre in Paris and mixes a wide variety of elements in her pieces, such as her writing practice, her artistic interest in food and performative self-make-up.

There are eight Black women on stage. Many people have prejudices when they see the women. The piece shows why they have these prejudices and how they came about. But also how the eight women deal with these prejudices.

Die Dampfzentrale ist rollstuhlgängig. Es gibt Treppenlifte für ins Foyer, in den Turbinensaal und zu den WCs. Der*die Access Friend hilft Ihnen gerne beim Bedienen der Lifte oder Sie benützen den Eurokey. Das Theater verfügt über ein barrierefreies WC. Wenn Sie mit einem Rollstuhl kommen, melden Sie sich bitte vorgängig bei uns, damit wir Ihnen einen entsprechenden Platz reservieren können: checkin@auawirleben.ch
Am 31.5. und 1.6. nach den Vorstellungen gibt es auch einen barrierefreien Shuttle (Betax). Dieser steht nach der Vorstellung vor der Dampfzentrale.

Access Friend
